How to Buy Sport Bike Gear

Perhaps the most important part of any extreme sport is the equipment that you wear. Not because it looks really cool, but because it can save your life. If sport biking is a passion of yours or something you'd like to get into, here is how you can buy the essential gear that may save your life. It may also make you look cool.

Step 1

Determine what you need and want. It is best to go shopping with a shopping list. If you're a new to the sport, you're going to need everything: boots, pants, jacket, gloves and most importantly a helmet. This won't be cheap, but neither is buying a sport bike. If you are veteran sport biker, do inventory on what you have. You're probably already shopping for something specific, but check the wear and tear on your other equipment as well.

Step 2

Check with your local motorcycle shop first thing. If you can actually visit a store, you can do a more thorough and hands-on inspection of the gear you are looking for. This is especially important for determining what size you will need. Plus, store clerks can be very helpful in pointing you to exactly what you're looking for.

Step 3

Shop online. It's not always guaranteed that a motorcycle store will be nearby, so the Internet may be your best option. Check out a website that specializes in nothing but sport bike gear. This will give you the most options and the highest quality equipment.

Step 4

Find gear that is stylish, durable and safe. Make sure the gear is comfortable and fits your personal biking style. Decide on your color scheme to match your bike if you would like to make a fashion statement while you're riding, and color coordinate all your biking gear.

Step 5

Look for the right size. Clothing gear usually runs in men's sizes, so finding a right fit shouldn't be too hard. You can always send the gear back if it doesn't fit. Just be sure to save your receipt and packing materials until you know everything fits properly, just in case you need to return items.

Step 6

Purchase your gear. Some items, such as full body suits, will not be very cheap at all. You may not be able to afford all the equipment at once. If this is the case, don't go riding until you have all the safety gear you need. Sport biking is a very fast-paced sport, and asphalt is very unforgiving.
